Hi, again...
I'm looking for a small snake I can bring to Alberta. I looked up some I liked but on some I could not find much info... Any help would be great! -Smooth green snake (Liochlorophis vernalis) -Red-bellied Snake (Storeria occipitomaculata) -Ornate Snail-eating Snake (Dipsas catesbeyi) (where you get non aquatic snales in winter?) -Rough Earth Snake (Virginia striatula) -Virginia Ground Snakes (Sonora semiannulata) apperently many different patterns...the who I'd look for follow; - http://www.thehibbitts.net/terry/images/S.semiannulata5c.jpg - http://www.thehibbitts.net/terry/images/S.semiannulata6c.jpg Not sure of the size of these but I really loved their coloring and shape -Gunther's rough-sided snake (Aspidura guentheri) -Rhabdophis nigrocinctus -Günther's Green Tree Snake (Dipsadoboa unicolor) -Spotted Bush Snake

Rubber Boa if you can find one. Not sure if your looking for something brand new but there are not a lot of Rosy Boas or African house snakes around

what do rough green snakes get to? they are tiny. the next I can think of are 2 or 3 times the sixe but totally manageable and fun.

lol, you have two threads going with the same discussion. Could the mod's perhaps combine them?
Don't forget the Dekay's brown snakes. While just browns, they can be striking in their own right. The browns and the ground snakes range far enough south where you might see them available during our winters, but I doubt it. Ian |

Depends on what you consider "small". I've had T.radix that were comparatively massive. As garters go, they're not small. However, as they are native they are also illegal to sell and it's not a great time of year to catch them.

Deffinatly some avenues to look into. I'd prefur to keep the size down to the (10-20 inch) range.
does anyone know where I'd look for inqure about buying say, brown, ground, or red bellied snakes? kinda get a price idea. I've tried looking online but I dont know who's reputation is good. I'm not looking to get them right away....more so in march or april (after I've moved) I'm having a custom tank/vivarium made as well so would like a better idea of the snake I'm getting so I can make the tank more ot it's needs.
