Thumbs up TARAS Library open for business!

TARAS has started a small collection of Herp related books that have been donated to the society to be enjoyed by the membership. These books will be made available for loan at our monthly meetings. Please contact me prior the meetings to reserve titles to be picked up at the meetings. I'm going to go with a 3 book lending maximum per person at one time for now. Books requested will be brought to the meeting for member pick up to be dropped back off in the same condition they were lent out at the next monthly meeting to be made available to other members. The 1 month lending period should be plenty time to read the book(s). Hopefully this "honor system" will work as I don't want to have to hunt down & kill people to get the books back (joking, maybe LOL). The titles available are listed below by title/author & the generous folks whom provided it to us. THX Mark

You can bring them to a meeting or if youd like you can drop them off at J&J Reptiles. #2 3407 17th Ave SE.

There are a number of other books as well, plus a large stack of exchange journals going back 20 years. I don't have the latter, but it's possible I have some of the books buried in the basement. Most of that stuff was turned over to others 10-12 years ago.

Unless these other books that we have all heard existed once, but have never ever seen, surface & are passed on to myself (the acting librarian) they don't exist as far as I'm concerned. Thus why all the currently owned TARAS books have been listed here publicly so we have a documented record of what they are (an up to date current valid inventory) & more importantly WHERE they are. Of course any books that were formerly owned by TARAS will be accepted back to add into the new library along with any other books folks are willing to donate. All books in the current library will be documented & kept track of properly as to not disappear as has apparently been the fate of the entire previous TARAS library. If you could check to see if any of the old reference material is stashed away in your basement & forward it to myself Andrew that would be great THX Mark
P.S. anyone else that has any other long lost TARAS stuff surface please forward it as well THX Also we have various "mail outs" from other herp clubs that Tony has been currently holding that we will be making part of the library eventually as well. These are only the last few years worth though.

Tony has forwarded the "mail outs" from other Societies & they are now also part of the Library. I'm not going to list all of these, but will make mention of the periodical bulletions from both Chicago & New Zealand Societies as they are the most "worthy" of the "mailouts" we recv. IMHO Mark

I think we do unless the ones I was looking at were all old ones, but I'm pretty sure there were some more current ones there too. Mark

I have a couple titles that I meant to bring to the last meeting (I'm still really PO'd about missing that) both are in the AVS Herpetocultural series. The titles are simply Tarantulas, and Scorpions, both authored by Jerry G. Walls. I'm hunting for a decent copy of Stan Schultz's book as well.
