Personally I never read them on any forum I frequent. I tend to get to know folks based on what other sections they post in & the topics they choose to discuss. Thats why I never tend to talk to the lizard/frog/bug folks very much as I tend to only read the general & snake forums/classifieds Mark
Mark's GONE SNAKEE! No PMs please email at

Working with select Colubrids (Corns, Kings, Hybrids etc.) and Australian Pythons (Carpets (X's & morphs), Aspidites etc.)

All stock parasite free and established on F/T prey (unless stated otherwise)

Mark doesn't even talk to the boa people. He doesn't consider anything that doesn't lay eggs to be real snakes. (Oviparous)

A single introduction thread, pinned, should be sufficient. I don't even read those, and new threads for every new member are even MORE ignorable. One dead thread with no content, for each new member.

Like Mark, I read posts of interest. Don't actually give a damn about the details about the individual unless they say something of interest. You are what you do. Jump in if you have something to say - prove yourself by your actions. If you want intros, one or two posts ina single thread is enough, and a sticky will keep such a thread obvious to all [in theory, but an iron frying pain in the face isn't obvious to some].

We also have user profiles, but nobody uses them.

The intro thing is a good way to make new members feel welcomed when people take part in it.

Hmmm you are what you do????? Not really sure I want to follow this one up but so many variables to consider with it I have to wonder how someone like Froggie can use such a vague statement hahaha not everybody is completely comfortable picking on Tony's age or Spanky's shower helmet so we have to give them time to get used to our group.

I think if people want to make an intro post on the general forum then go for it. A single sticked thread for it would end up even more ignored trying to wade through 300 pages and remember where you last saw if you've been off for a couple days.

Probably marginally better than 500 separate threads dedicated to a single person each and then rambling off into meaninglessness. A search will find either one, but only the stickied thread is likely to be obvious and on topic.
