Thanks For The Show...
This was my first time on the show promoter side for TARAS and in the Volunteer Coordinator position as well. Overall, I thought the show was a huge success, considering we were in a new location. I wanted to personally thank all of the vendors who came to show off their animals and other reptile relate stuff! I got to meet many really cool people that put an enormous amount of work into bringing a healthy, diverse and wide selection of different animals for us to peruse. This event would not happen without our great vendors, but it certainly wouldn't happen without our volunteers either! We had an amazing group of young volunteers that are the future of our hobby come out and I got the opportunity to get to know each and every one of them a little bit and realize how passionate they are about their animals at home and the enthusiasm they bring to an event like this! We can all use a little bit if youthfulness and have fun like this group of herpers! We also had some mature volunteers, like myself (ahem!) that enjoy giving our time too, and I thank you also! I would also like to thank the other fabulous core of volunteers that I have had the honour of getting to know over the last several months! They work tirelessly on putting all of the events that we do, from our spring and fall shows, Reptilemania, events like the fish hatchery and school related events, etc. When I signed on to be a board member, I had no idea just how hard this core group works in getting 'out there' to educate the public on these wonderful creatures we get to call pets. After we 'lick our wounds' so to speak, the Board will be reflecting on the successes and challenges we faced over this weekend so that we can continue to work hard at improving which, in my opinion is already a really great show. For the few moments that we had to reflect on the show already over the weekend, we realized that we will be asking the vendors for their opinions for improvements. There was one more group of people that I wanted to thank... that's right, all the people that paid to come out to the show! I truly enjoyed watching the faces on the people walking out, obviously with their first reptile in a small tub! I asked several of them what they got and what it was and it really was nice to hear their excitement as they described their new animal to me. Everyone of them were sooo proud to show off their new acquisition. It brought back memories of not that long ago when I got my first reptile...
Anyways, if I have forgotten to thank anyone that helped out or is connected to the show, TARAS community or general public, I do apologize. Thank you all for making the show a blast for me!
