Thank you!
I will for surebe doing prints of this when I'm done. I still have a couple of mycham too (and or could easily print a couple more prints up when I go to do the GTP) if you'd like one of those too.
Other realistic animals I've done is my sparrow 2004, snowy egret, a husky sketch >2006, a coloured tri-colour hus 2010, and a fox painting 2006. The last 4 of that list were just random animals I really wanted to do. Unfortunately I don't like doing commissions of other people's animals... Realistic animals is one of those things that I can do really really well with if it's with something I like.
lol which fuzzybutt? I thought about doing one for each of my dogs and ferret... But I just haven't found that ONE pic that I REALLY want to draw (with any of them, and Kiba has a LOT of really great pics). One day, I'll snap a good pic of them and go from there.
More or less; these series of pics shows my general progress. I start with a base colour, and just add more and more layers of colour (both high and low lights). When I'm happy with the base layer, then I go in and add in detailing. I'll start with the outlining of the scales, then add high and low lights to each scale and the surrounding area to blend it all together.

Though I'm not happy with that section fully (I've changed it a little since these photos were taken) and I'm not happy with the tail at all. I know I'll be redoing the tail for sure, that section, I might redo as well too, haven't decided.
You can see in Wip6 that I took out the scaling at the top of that section, lightened it up a bit... But I still want to lighten up the outlining of the scales there, doesn't match the rest. By the time I got to the next section of scales, I developed a style that I liked. But before then, it's just garbage.
