Default New the forum, hello all!

Hello everyone! My name is Melissa, I am new to the forum and relatively new to the hobby. I have been interested in and wanting to own a reptile/snake since I was about 12 years old. I finally purchased my first snake (Albino Tangerine Honduran Milksnake) January 2012 and have been adding to the collection steadily. Since then I have added 1 Mexican Black Kingsnake, 3 Carpet Pythons (Irian Jaya, Jungle, Diamond), 4 Ball Pythons (Normal, Pinstripe, Piebald, Spider), 1 Woma Python, 2 Boas (Normal, Albino), 2 Blood Pythons, 1 Albino Checkered Garter Snake, 1 Rough Green Snake and 1 Ornate Pacman Frog. I have attended 2 expos in Calgary (both last year) and count down the days until the next one. I would like to one day volunteer my animals and time for something like your Reptilemania and help spread the word to more people that these misunderstood creatures are not all vicious, bloodthirsty killers like it seems several people think they are (hence the proposed/established bans in some areas). My animals are my world and I wish more people in my life appreciated them like I do.

    Cheers everyone, take care!

    Hi Melissa,

First of all welcome to the forums! It is great to see new people getting involved in the hobby each year.

We do host monthly meetings on the 3rd Monday of every month (unless it is a holiday in which case we hold it on the Tuesday instead). These meetings are typically held at the Deerfoot meadows Petland at 7PM. If you are interested in volunteering, we are always looking for additional help, and would love to have you come out to the next meeting if you are available.

The next meeting will be held Monday March March 18th at 7PM and will be held at the deerfoot meadows petland.

    Again Welcome to the forums!

    Rob

That sounds great but unfortunately I work 12-13hrs a day and don't get home until about 9pm...unless of course I take the day off 'cause I need a break.

Hello! Welcome! Wow... you sure grew your collection quickly! Hahaha...
As Rob mentioned, we definitely would love your help! You could also volunteer at the next expo (in May)... it would be a great way to meet people in the reptile community! Also, if you volunteer a full day you could get a free membership with the society.

    Can't wait to meet you!

    Uh... WOW x 2!

That's definitely fast growth! Welcome and it's great to see another very passionate reptile lover. We are always looking for energetic and passionate volunteers, in fact we are looking for more volunteers for our Spring show. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me via PM or email ([email protected]), as I am the Volunteer Coordinator. I will be returning from my family vacation at the end of this week, so please don't expect a quick response until then if you try.

Again, welcome and feel free to post any pictures of your animals!
