I live in a basement suite and the heat doesn't exceed 67-68 in my room. Have to keep the door closed due to roommates cats. I only have a light to warm up the tank just a bit because I was always told 67 is too low, and it drops to 63 during the night. As for wood, not sure of what kind. The mold was a little white fuzzy with some black spots if that helps I'd it?
As far as I can tell, hasn't hit the substrate, but it's hard to tell without ripping the tank apart ( planted Viv) it's currently growing on his wood bridge that doesn't touch the substrate at all.
i have cork bark and can change it out, was just hoping for a certain aesthetic. Oh well
