Yep in situ incubation is always best, you might not have as high of a hatch rate, but the ones that do will be healthier and stronger.

Several eggs are perfectly fine being in direct contact with the medium, but when you think about it day geckos *usually* lay their eggs at higher elevations that means they will still be in a humid enviroment but not in direct contact with a continuously wet substrate. When I first started breeding day geckos it took me a while to work out the kinks! Now I just have a small feeding dish holding the eggs inside of a ziploc container with vermiculite, and I keep the whole thing in the adults tank so it get's the fluctuating temperatures as well. A dozen P.Grandis babies this year seemed to approve!

Biggest thing about not being in contact with the substrate with any eggs is you can keep it as wet as you want & never have to worry about it.
No worries about eggs drying out or becoming too wet due to contact to excessively wet/dry substrate.
Keep it plenty wet & the humidity will always be there, Mark

Oh okay I guess those all make sense! Thanks. The removal process broke two eggs... :/ but I guess I learn't they are way more fragile then I expected.
I will have more success taking them out. I actually did just move them into an empty tank I had set up for the babies I have now but won't cooperate (figures right?) so it's still with the other babies.

Sorry to hear about the broken eggs They are extremely fragile. I feel sometimes if I even touch them they will break. Actually one of my most successful hatchlings was born from an egg that was tossed around. As I was removing it from the tank, the egg actually became unstuck from the plastic material it was laid on and ended up soaring through the air and landing on my lap. Luckily I was sitting down at the time. My wife and I both screamed, lol, and proceeded as normal, hoping there was no permanent damage done to the egg. Low and behold, two days later it hatched.

That's a tough egg right there! The name of the baby should be Knievel My other babies are all doing good except one baby that isn't doing so hot, it seems to only eat repashy the day gecko diet. I'm sure she'll lay more soon enough, and I will have more experience with their fragile eggs.
    Thanks

I've noticed recently that my geckos are actually enjoying CGD more than the day gecko diet. Maybe the flavour is a nice change from the usual.

It's mango flavoured as opposed to the fig flavoured day gecko diet.

I find that they all prefer the mango unless I add a drop of honey to the fig. For variety I like to add a wee bit of freshly pureed fruit as well.
