So I'm coming closer to purchasing an Argentinian Tegu as a hatchling, as young as I can get it - Big Al's up in Edmonton has a B&W that's about a foot and a half long and I've been browsing around for a temporary tank to keep him comfortable in until I build his permanent enclosure in the summer. The tank I am thinking of getting is an aquarium, 6' x 20" wide x 24" tall, which I intend to fit a peg board to the back of to hang the lights, and build a simple lid to clamp on the top.

Is this size suitable? I was reading on tegu topia for a hatchling-yearling the minimum is 24" height x 18" width x 48" length but I'm not entirely sure if a foot and a half long tegu has broken past the 'yearling' point yet.

Any other suggestions or tips for working with an aquarium like this to make it a more ideal temporary home is much appreciated.
