Default My New Planted Viv (DUW)

First of all I just want to send a huge Thanks to MarkB for all of these incredible looking plants! I have created an entirely seperate enclosure just for the plants to mature and grow.

I never thought I would be one for doing a live enclosure, however thanks to MarkB I am now addicted!

Here are some pics of the setup, let me know what you think!

    Thanks for looking!

    Rob

Rob looks good man. My only suggestion is to get that brom out of the dirt. I think I see a perfect hole in your cork bark to put it in, other than that looks good. Just need some darts to go in there now.

Yeah I don't see the Brom doing well where it is.

Looks good Rob. Do you have a drainage layer underneath the dirt?

never looked that close, that's another thing that will cause difficulty, you can use gravel, or clay balls, but a drainage layer keeps plants from root rotting, also helps cycle waste if you have a water cycle in it.

    Very nice!

You are going to need to watch the wandering jew and keep it in check. They can really take off and become invasive. They are my favourite plant, and I'd never do a tropical viv without one.

What bulbs are you using in the Hagen Glo?

If anyone wants to bring some wandering jew clippings to this meeting I wouldn't object

I can bring you a bunch, but you would have to carefully inspect for mealy bugs and probably QT them from the rest of your plants for a bit. I believe all of the eight wandering jews I have left are clear of them . . . but I can not guarantee that they are pest free.

I just realized I have a wandering jew sitting right beside me in my office that hasn't been anywhere near the ones at home. I'll bring you some clippings of that one.
