Dear Friends,

Came upon this rattlesnake this morning and as you can see, it was fully prepared to strike. When I came upon the snake, it was extended out to full length sunning itself at the prairie breaks. When I removed my backpack to get the camera, it quickly picked up my heat signature, then coiled immediately ready to inflict untold misery. Needless to say, I kept my distance. The snake measured about 2 feet and appeared in very good condition.

Conditions: sunny, light breeze.
Area: Breaks of the Red Deer, Badlands.
