If you don't know what your doing, ask someone who does.
Im not sure who breeds exactly, but after being at J & J Reptiles, we know that they have a new aquatic set up at the front of the store and had quite a few salamanders last time we were in.
I breed Pleurodeles waltll but don't have any ready at the moment.
Andrew AKA Frog0_0eyes here on the forums regularily has them at the show, as well as J&J reptiles. Any specific kind you are looking for?
Bluemoon Geckos
Andrew is not vending at the fall show.

Im not sure as to what kind of salamander I am looking for. I was hoping to talk to someone at the show to find out what is the best starter species and then do my homework on that species. I want to make sure I have and get all the right things before buying a new pet.

You don't have a lot of choices. Most of the species available are fine as pets, but have differing needs. Most are wild-caught. Captive bred specimens, except Spanish ribbed newts and rarely axolotls, are not normally something you have to worry much about choosing, since most are simply not here to buy most of the time. When they are available, most are pretty hardy, but some are very difficult. It's better to decide on an interest and then find out what the needs are and whether it is feasible.
The trend is to post names and numbers of "pets" here. That seems...um...bulky.

No, there are no regulations pertaining to wild-caught of any kind.
The above comments are likely based on some confusion regarding Alberta native species laws. Non-game animals may not be possessed, but non-license animals may be possessed, bought, or sold unless otherwise specified. Blotched tiger salamanders are non-license animals. Tiger salamanders of any kind [native blotched, exotic eastern, California, barred, etc] or source, including local animals, can currently be freely bought or sold in Alberta. Tigers native to Ontario and BC are protected federally and provincially. In contrast, long-toed salamanders of any kind are protected in Alberta and prohibited from possession, while wildlife of any kind is prohibited from possession in BC. In BC, all mole salamanders (Ambystoma) are considered protected wildlife, including axolotls (Ambystoma mexicanum).
