Dear Friends,

I have calculated my herping success ratio; for ever 3 miles I walk I see one herp (snake, toad etc.)
Here`s a Plains garter snake that has taken the position, "if you can`t see me and I can`t see you, I`m safe. Look carefully, you can see his/her head peeking out from the middle of the coils.

Interesting statistic John, you're obviously putting in some serious miles. I wonder if that relates to known habitats or places you have felt were suitable?
