Dear Friends,

I am still herping, but conditions are difficult given the temperatures that we are enduring. Plant growth in prime riparian areas is lush to say the least, so seeing things is often a brief affair. Today, was a good example as a basking Plains garter snake darted off the edge of a trail to disappear in a flash while a Canada toad leaped into the reeds along the lake shore and likewise vanished. Distance covered, 3+ miles.

All the best,

John.
