There was a little turbid water in a shallow depression in the sandhills and in that water, which was barely deep enough to float a cork, were spadefoot tadpoles. As you can see, they aren`t very colourful, but rather match the greyish water in which they were feeding. Last year, this water was full of great plains tadpoles and toadlets. However, there is much less water this year and likely great plains tadpoles need deeper water for a longer time than spadefoots to mature. Searched for adult GP`s, but no luck. Very hot, humid and buggy.
