A new tarantula genus, Psednocnemis, from West Malaysia (Araneae: Theraphosidae), with cladistic analyses and biogeography of Selenocosmiinae Simon 1889
The lead author is Rick West of Victoria BC.
The following is available in the abstract, but I'm hoping to simplify:
Psednocnemis davidgohi new species and genus, previously confused in part with Coremiocnemis hoggi
Subfamily Selenocosmiinae revised
Tribe Chilobrachini described
Tribe Phlogiellini described
Tribe Selenocosmiini revised
Subfamily Poecilotheriinae [ornamentals] reduced to a tribe of Selenocosmiinae, Poecilotheriini
Yamia is transferred entirely to Phlogiellus and no longer exists as a genus
Chilocosmia is transferred entirely to Orphnaecus and no longer exists as a genus
Selenobrachys is transferred entirely to Orphnaecus and no longer exists as a genus
Selenocosmia xinping is now Phlogiellus xinping by reassignment
Selenocosmia dichromata is now Orphnaecus dichromata by reassignment
Coremiocnemis brachyramosa is now Psednocnemis brachyramosa by reassignment
Coremiocnemis gnathospina is now Psednocnemis gnathospina by reassignment
Coremiocnemis jeremyhuffi is now Psednocnemis jeremyhuffi by reassignment
Selenocosmia imbellis is now Psednocnemis imbellis by reassignment
It's not known what genus Chilocosmia barensteinerae actually belongs to
Ischnocolella senffti is not a valid species name
Selenocosmines of Australia/Papua were not included in the study.
The trend is to post names and numbers of "pets" here. That seems...um...bulky.
23+ species of salamander
28+ families and subfamilies of reptile, amphibian, and arachnid.
Only one has a name. The Beast.
